| 2006 IBO Industrial Design Awards Announced

Los Angeles, CA Instrument Business Outlook (IBO) today announced the winners of the thirteenth annual IBO Design Awards for excellence in industrial design of analytical and life science instruments, portable analytical instruments and laboratory equipment. The winners of the 2006 Awards exemplify how innovative industrial design can make a product aesthetically appealing and enhance the end-users experience. The winners are:
Analytical Instrument Industrial Design:
Gold Award: Thermo Electrons iCAP 6000 Series Inductively Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometer
Silver Award: FEI Companys Titan 80-300 Scanning/Transmission Electron Microscope
Bronze Award: Oxford Instruments MQC Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer
Portable Analytical Instrument Industrial Design:
Gold Award: BYK-Gardners Wave Scan Dual Paint Tester
Silver Award: Polychromixs Phazir Infrared Spectrometer
Bronze Award: Thermo Electrons Interceptor Spectroscopic Personal Radiation Detector
Laboratory Equipment Industrial Design:
Gold Award: Eppendorf AGs Eppendorf Multipette stream/Multipette Xstream Electronic Dispenser
Silver Award: Thermo Electrons Espresso Microcentrifuge
Bronze Award: domnick hunters Zero-Air Generator
To be eligible for a Design Award, a product must have begun shipping between August 2005 and July 2006. Award candidates are chosen from the new instruments that IBO monitors through trade shows, trade publications and press releases. Award winners are selected solely based on their industrial designs, not on technical capabilities or performance. Criteria include originality, functionality and features.
IBO is a 12-page, subscription-based newsletter published twice monthly by Strategic Directions International, Inc. (SDi), a management and marketing research firm dedicated to the analytical and life science instrument industry. SDi is the worlds leading source of information on the market for analytical and life science instrumentation and equipment for laboratory and on-site applications.
